Dr. Xhoana Gjelaj is a renowned implantologist, with an impressive array of

credentials including DMD, MAGD, DICOI, FAAID, and DABOI/ID.

A dental expert who can perform a dental implant surgery is known as an

implantologist. So how does one become an implantologist? According to the American Academy of Implant Dentistry (AAID), implantologists have

attained different levels of certification. AAID associate fellows have 300

hours of continuing education in implant dentistry under their belt, as well as

1+ years performing implant surgeries. AAID fellows have been performing

implant dentistry for 5+ years and have 400 hours of continuing education in

the same field. Both AAID associate fellows and fellows have also completed

oral and written exams.

An even higher certification is if they are a Diplomate of the American Board

of Oral Implantology/Implant Dentistry (ABOI/ID). These dental professionals

need to have practiced implant dentistry for at least seven years and

completed implant procedures on at least 75 people.

A graduate of Nova Southeastern University, she is part of an elite group of

less than 1% of dentists in the United States to be awarded both the

Mastership of the Academy of General Dentistry (AGD) and Diplomate of the

International Congress of Oral Implantology (ICOI) and American Board of

Oral Implantology (ABOI).

Having practiced implant dentistry for over 12 years, Dr. Gjelaj has earned

the esteemed Diplomate status with the American Board of Oral

Implantology/Implant Dentistry (ABOI/ID), signifying her extensive

experience and dedication to the specialized field of Dental Implantology.

She has also been recognized as a Fellow of the Misch International Implant

Institute and the American Academy of Implant Dentistry.
